We had such a full weekend. I really don’t think we could have added anything else to it, but we had so much fun and spent a lot of time with family.
Friday night was the first high school football game of the season. It was way too hot and sticky. I am looking forward to the games later in the season that will be accompanied by cooler temperatures. This was “C’s” first time marching in the half time show and they did really well. He looked so happy and I know it is because he felt part of something. We were so proud and happy for him.
The baby chicks hatched Saturday morning. The three girls were up by 6:30 in their p.j.’s and so excited. It felt like Christmas morning and the excitement over these chicks has lasted longer than any present they have ever opened up. We had nine eggs and four of them hatched so each of the four kids were able to pick out and name their own chick.
Saturday we went to a girls lunch while the boys played golf and then ended the day with dinner at my in-laws. Sunday we skipped church (shhh don’t tell) and headed to Anna Maria Island for the day. My parents, sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew were staying at the beach and we were able to go and hang out with them on one of the prettiest beaches in Florida. Living in Florida has many perks and being able to head to the beach for the day is definitely at the top of the list!
We finished the holiday weekend off with a fish fry at the home of my husband’s uncle. They host a fish fry at least three times a year and it is great to be able to hang out with family and eat fish, cheese grits, and habanero hush puppies.
I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend and were able to squeeze in some family time. September is going to be such a busy time with football games, cross country, and dance classes starting. Two of the girls and my mother-in-law have September birthdays which means birthday party planning and family get-togethers. I have a feeling this month is going to fly by.
