I am so glad you are here!
Our blended abode is in Florida and includes myself, my husband, four kids, our dog “Yoda” and guinea pig “Tilly”.
Some of the things I love …..
- I love that God chose to show His love and grace to me.
- I love my family.
- I love getting up early before anyone else.
- I love to organize.
- I love to decorate.
- I love DIY projects (painting, sewing, the list goes on and on).
- I love coffee.
Did I mention that I LOVE coffee? I think it is really the quiet time I actually love, but I drink coffee when I am having quiet time so I think the coffee is symbolic.
Apart from being a wife and a mom, I am a project manager for an environmental engineering company in a large retirement community. I am blessed as I have worked with friends, not just co-workers for more than ten years. I work three to four days per week depending on our family’s schedule. My job also gives the kids the opportunity to attend a wonderful school.
Our story does not start out with “we met in college, married, had children, and …….(fill in the blank).” I truly believe that is a wonderful start to a story and is one I pray for my children. The roads my husband and I traveled on our journeys had many different forks and I am forever thankful that our roads converged. I can honestly say that I no longer look back and want my story to be different. I understand that just like a mountain stream is molded by the water, I was molded by my story. Our individual stories make each one of us unique. It is so freeing to know that God can use me for a purpose, even though my story has chapters that show off my imperfections. The grace I have received is sweet and beautiful. It changes your heart. It changes how you think. It changes how you love. God’s grace doesn’t make you perfect and there will still be imperfections, but the chapters of imperfections will start getting smaller and the burdens will get lighter when you live in His grace.
I am the wife to a wonderful man that loves me like I have never felt love before. I met him at church and I taught his two daughters in Sunday School. I saw how he treated them like princesses and it was so very sweet and melted my heart. He is a talented musician. He plays piano and guitar, sings, and writes song. It was impossible to not fall in love with the man that is sweet to his girls and wrote songs for me.
I am a mom to a son (“C”) and a daughter (“T”). I actually started off being a “mum”. I was born in Florida and then moved to Scotland when I was 19. Both of my children were born in Scotland, my son was born in Glasgow and my daughter was born in Sterling. I lived in Scotland for eight years and fell in love with it. It will always hold a special place in my heart. I moved back to Florida when my son was four and my daughter was one. I love being their mom and can’t imagine life without them.
I am a mamie (aka step-mom) to two wonderful girls (“Z” and “K”). They named me Mamie after calling me Miss Jamie for over a year. They have a mom and my role is not to be their mother but to love them unconditionally and guide them when they are with me. I am extremely fortunate and have bonded with them and they have accepted me with unconditional love.
The best complement our family has received is that we don’t look like a blended family. I want all of the four children in our home to feel loved and encouraged daily. Our home is full, sometimes noisy, sometimes messy (I can’t handle too much mess as I love being organized), sometimes chaotic, but is a place of acceptance. We want our kids to learn to love, to learn to respect, to learn to show compassion and to learn to live in God’s love and grace. The opportunity to be their parents and to guide them is humbling. The journey is not always easy, but this journey is one I wouldn’t trade for anything in this world.
I believe we were created to create, inspire and encourage each other on our unique journey. I hope you can find a little of each right here.
